CONGRATS!

Posted by Leslie on March 25th, 2007 | No Comments

To several of my wonderful writing pals. Four of them finalled in RWA’s Golden Heart. A huge shout-out to Carla Hughes, who WON the Golden Heart a few years ago; Beth Burgoon, Anna Sugden (who were finalists with me last year); and also to Sheila-Rae Mohs and Lindsey Brookes. These last two gals have never finalled in the Golden Heart but they sure deserve to. I read the entire book of Sheila’s and it’s unique and fabulous. Way to go, ladies!!! I couldn’t be prouder!

Check me out…

at the Historical Romance Club. I’ve got my own page with links and bookcovers and other cool stuff. Please take some time to go visit over there. Many other talented authors are also sharing space with me…and, despite the name, not all at the website is historical.

Rocking Pals!

Posted by Leslie on March 23rd, 2007 | 1 Comment

Several of my writing pals have had some cool stuff going on. I just HAVE to share!

1) Tawny Weber – a former critique partner of mine – has recently sold several books to Blaze. Her first books arrived at her door. You just can’t imagine what it’s like to hold your own book in your hands. Three words: Dream come true. Visit Tawny’s blog to see her picture and read all about DOUBLE DARE!

2) Terri Garey, another pal of mine, also got her first book in the mail! She got a two-book deal with Avon on a fantastic and snarky series featuring a goth girl who can talk to the dead. I just can’t wait to read DEAD GIRLS ARE EASY! She’s got a picture posted on her blog too!

3) Lisa Paitz Spinder, my very first critique partner and my webmaster-extraordinaire, has recently been awarded the “Thinking Blogger Award.” And it’s no surprise. Lisa is a super intelligent, nerdy, fun feminist. Her Danger Gal Fridays are worth checking out her blog alone.

Oh, and as a side note :-) SECRET INTENTIONS is currently #10 on Triskelion’s bestseller list. Thanks to all my readers!! Ya just don’t know how happy that makes me! New excerpt coming up soon!

Featured on the homepage!

The Gotta Write Network has both of my stories featured on their homepage. How cool is THAT?? They interviewed me a little while ago and now reviewed TABOO:

A century ago a space shuttle that is hopelessly disabled forces the travelers to cross the ocean to where, now, Aerotauns master flying with the help of mechanical wings so they live in the upper areas of the Dwelling. Living below the Dwelling, the Marimars are strong swimmers who thrive by the ocean’s edge. The suspenseful plot moves smoothly as the clever though enchanting characters uncover the secret surrounding the shuttle’s demise.

CONGRATS to Samhain!

They’ve just achieved RWA (Romance Writers of America) Status of Recognition. Basically, this is a process that a publisher must undergo to prove that they are a professional organization who are dedicated to their authors’ careers. This acceptance isn’t easy to achieve, especially from an e-publisher who often has limited print runs.

Anyway, I’m proud to say that my first sale – THE PRICE OF DISCOVERY – is with Samhain. WTG, gang!!!!!!!

New Jordanna Kay Pages!

Posted by Leslie on March 22nd, 2007 | No Comments

YES! I’m moving on over! Combining both of my websites into one area, so that I can keep you – the reader – more up to date! Check out the books to the left. There are excerpts and links to buy on the individual pages. And, as always, PLEASE let me know if you have any feedback or comments!

Stuff!

Posted by Leslie on March 22nd, 2007 | No Comments

1) I added a page for my work-in-progress, MARK OF THE MONSTER. Although it’s not published yet, I’ll be sending the revised version to my agent for her to distribute to various editors!

2) Keep an eye out for my Jordanna Kay site to come over here and be a part of this site. The pages will have a different look, but at least all of my stuff will be together, which will make it much easier for me. So you’ll see posts on those books (reviews, etc.) here too. Right now, you can check out that stuff at www.jordannakay.com .

3) Every now and then I’ll be doing postings not directly related to my writing. Just stuff that interests me in general. I had a blog for that, but I can’t keep up with more than one blog anymore.

4) I’m trying to come up with a once a week theme or something that I can keep up to generate your interest. If you have any ideas, let me know.

5) Don’t forget about the contest. I’ll be posting more excerpts and then the questions for a win. And if you’ve bought SECRET INTENTIONS and read it, PLEASE let me know your thoughts. I beg of you! I’ll send you a present even! LOL!

Here’s the deal!

I’m gonna post more excerpts of SECRET INTENTIONS over the next several days. Then, I’ll post some questions. Those who can answer the questions based on the excerpts will win a choice of bath product or earrings. But one question will NOT be from the excerpts, but from the book itself. That correct answer will win you the perfume “Secret Intention” ~ Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain, this is a year 2000 limited edition fragrance. The fragrance exudes freshness and sparkle, thanks to the light and tangy accents of Calabrian bergamot, lemon, Ceylon tea, cardamom, and coriander, followed by an intense flowery heart note of white jasmine, peony and neroli on a warm layer of sandalwood, Tonka beans and vanilla.

Now, onto another excerpt! Enjoy! ;-)

The vehicle set off and dashed Lizzie’s chance to be away from him. Now she was trapped in this small space, trapped with that enticing aroma, those bottomless eyes, those expert lips.

Blast that man. He was always outmaneuvering her, finding some way to be with her alone. What did he want from her?

“To kiss you again. You want to know why I wanted to come along. It was to kiss you again.” He didn’t blink or blush, the wicked rake.

Despite her better sense, her heart trembled. Within seconds, her mouth ran dry, as if preparing itself for his entry. Her breasts tingled, hardening her nipples. The mere mention of his lips on hers sent her body into a chaos of pleasure.

Dear Lord!

Lizzie clenched her teeth, hoping it would put an end to this unraveling of her willpower.

“No, Markham,” she whispered, fixing her gaze out the windows. Anything but to look at him.

“No?” His voice was closer. “I see you. You can’t deny your reactions.”

“Go away.”

“I keep thinking about the other day out on the garden terrace. I remember how you felt under my lips, under my hands.”

Lizzie couldn’t hold back her whimper.

“You want me to do it again.”

He was before her now, nearly on his knees in the swaying carriage. Lizzie closed her eyes but she could feel the heat from his body.

Seduction. The man was a master at it. He’d wormed his way under her skin, infesting her with his smooth words and warm touch. And like the flower or the tree, she’d succumb eventually. Only to be left exposed, vulnerable, weakened.

By the time the London Season ended, no man would want her. Having been ruined by Lord Markham, she would return home alone. Returning home ruined could not be worth this quaking heat in her veins.

She felt him shift closer to her face. “Kiss me,” he murmured.

No. This man had given her no reason to believe he’d do anything but seduce her. Never had he actually earned her kisses.

Lizzie steeled her gaze on him. A shadow of whiskers grew along his cheeks, his breath blew warm on her face. A twitch of his lips spoke of eagerness, anticipation. He really did want to kiss her.

Not today. Not again.

“Move away, Markham.”

His gaze lowered to her lips. “You don’t mean that.”

Lizzie drew in a deep, sustaining breath. “Oh, I do. You’ll not have my kisses.”

He sat back in his seat, but with an eyebrow raised. “Oh, I will. I’ll have that and more.”

Hint, hint!

Can secret intentions be revealed?

Posted by Leslie on March 16th, 2007 | No Comments

My publisher came up with a list of titles for my book based on the subject and I chose Secret Intentions from the list. Both of the main characters have hidden motivations for their actions, intentions which they keep secret until the very end.

Scientists studying the brain have found where “future thoughts” are processed. The article states: “It has never before been possible to read out of brain activity how a person has decided to act in the future.”

Anyway, some fascinating stuff comes up when you google the name of your book! LOL! Stay tuned for another cool thing I found and how I’m going to make it a contest prize!
