Check out this game and see how civilized you are for the Victorian period. There are many rules of etiquette you must adhere to during that time period.

If you post your score here as a comment, I may just send you a cool prize! :-)

Nerds Rule!

Posted by Leslie on May 31st, 2007 | 1 Comment

To be my friend, you must possess at least one of the following:

1) Intellect/Nerdiness
2) Sense of Humor
3) Naughtiness
4) Adoration for Gerry Butler

My pal Lisa hit the jackpot with all four! And this confirms it. Her latest work-in-progress was scientific and nerdy enough, but now she’s found real proof of what she’s created. Now tell me that ain’t cool!

Practice? Maybe not.

Pompeii PaintingIf you read my 8 random things about me just a few posts ago, I admited to writing “secret porn” for my fellow Gerry Butler gal-friends. I wasn’t joking. It all started out, ahem, innocently enough. Someone posted one of the many hot, stimulating picture of Gerry and I replied with a sentence of what it must feel like to be in his arms. From there, a request was made to write a really steamy sexy scene. In an hour, I wrote a few pages of semi-erotica based on that picture.

From that moment on, many of the gals requested a special scene of their own. And I’m having a blast. I’m not writing with the intent of publishing it or selling it to a publisher, but does that mean it’s a waste of time? No writing is wasted writing. Practice, practice, practice, right?

Besides, with each story I write, I get a little more comfortable with the heat level. I’m challenging myself, pushing my personal boundries. While these particular stories may not ever go up for sale, they’ll more than likely lead to future ones that will. And the best thing is that my Muse is really starting to awaken.

Ahem…

Five Amazing Facts

Posted by Leslie on May 23rd, 2007 | No Comments

Yeah, yeah, I missed it on Friday. Sue me. Here’s five more!

11. What would a 100-pound person weigh on Mars?
The gravity on Mars is 38 percent of that found on Earth at sea level. So a 100-pound person on Earth would weigh 38 pounds on Mars. Based on NASA’s present plans, it’ll be decades before this assumption can be observationally proved, however.

Mars12. How long is a Martian year?
It’s a year long, if you’re from Mars. To an earthling, it’s nearly twice as long. The red planet takes 687 Earth-days to go around the Sun — compared to 365 days for Earth. Taking into account Mars’ different rotational time (see #13 below) calendars on Mars would be about 670 days long with some leap days needed to keep things square. If you find one, please mail it to me. I’m curious how they worked out the months, given they have two moons. [The initial publication of this fact mistakenly said a Mars calendar would have 687 days.]

13. How long is the average Martian day?
A Martian can sleep (or work) and extra half-hour every day compared to you. Mars days are 24 hours and 37 minutes long, compared to 23 hours, 56 minutes on Earth. A day on any planet in our solar system is determined by how long it takes the world to spin once on its axis, making the Sun appear to rise in the morning and sending it down in the evening.

14. What is the largest volcano?
The Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii holds the title here on Earth. It rises more than 50,000 feet (9.5 miles or 15.2 kilometers) above its base, which sits under the surface of the sea. But that’s all volcanic chump change. Olympus Mons on Mars rises 16 miles (26 kilometers) into the Martian sky. Its base would almost cover the entire state of Arizona.

15. What was the deadliest known earthquake?
The world?s deadliest recorded earthquake occurred in 1557 in central China. It struck a region where most people lived in caves carved from soft rock. The dwellings collapsed, killing an estimated 830,000 people. In 1976 another deadly temblor struck Tangshan, China. More than 250,000 people were killed.

Oh, yeah, baby…

Tagged Again!

Posted by Leslie on May 22nd, 2007 | No Comments

I’ve been tagged by a fellow Wild Rose Press author – Michelle Chambers. However, since I’ve run out of fellow authors to tag, I’ll do part of the fun. I’ll list 8 new things you don’t know about me, but not gonna tag anyone else. Sigh…guess I need more friends, huh? LOL!

1. My middle name is Kay. My maiden name was Jordan. Get how I came up with the pen name Jordanna Kay?

2. I love Gefilte Fish. It’s a Jewish tradition to eat it during Passover. It’s several types of fish mixed with matzoh meal. Most people won’t go near it on looks alone, but I love it!

3. I’m afraid of heights and closed-in tight spaces.

4. I write secret porn for my fellow Gerry Butler fans.

5. I still have some clothes from fifteen years ago.

6. Other than my college years on NC, I’ve never lived outside the state of Maryland.

7. I once sold a puppy to Cal Ripkin’s brother, Billy. Had no clue who he was until some kids started asking for autographs.

8. I wrote an entire book (MARK OF THE MONSTER) from a single line of dialogue.

There you have it. Whew, these are getting harder and harder to come up with! LOL!

Note to Self:

Discontinue all teenager’s parties now and forever.

ACK! Was I crazy? I think so. Having over forty 14 and 15 year olds in my house was not the brightest idea. Hormones raging, showing off, snarls, bad language, spilled food, destroyed basement. YIKES!! Yes, I was insane.

On a brighter note, my agent has agreed to read A TARNSHIED HEART (formerly SECRET INTENTIONS). So maybe…not sure, but maybe…it’ll get sent out to the big, bad world of NY publishers. We’ll see.

Right now I’m just waiting for my new computer to arrive (YIPPEE!!) and a new desk and chair and then I’ll have NO EXCUSE not to write!!
