Sigh

I really don’t know what else to say regarding this information from a LiveScience article:

Of our closest relatives, gorillas and orangutans are both classified as Critically Endangered (the last step on the list before Extinction status). Gorillas have been decimated by local human conflicts, the commercial bushmeat trade and the Ebola virus, with a 60 percent decline in their populations in the last 25 years. Orangutans are threatened by burning and logging of their forest homes.

The Yangtze River Dolphin, reported to be extinct several weeks ago and thought later to have been recently spotted, is listed as Critically Endangered and Possibly Extinct due to habitat destruction from pollution and river traffic.

Corals were added to list the list for the first time this year.

People are the main reason for most species’ decline, whether through direct means such as over-hunting or indirect means such as the introduction of invasive species.

Romance Novel TV

now isn’t that a “novel” idea? I heard they were at the RWA conference this year, but unforunately that was the first conference in six years I didn’t make it to. However, it seems as if this site is really making a splash. Currently, one of my playpals, C.L. Wilson, has an interview there (second one down on the list of videos)! WOW! Hmmmm…wonder if one day I’ll be on there with my own interview. One can only dream!

Here’s another funny from her blog!!

Finger Crossing Time!

Ok, not only have I sent back my revisions on SECRET INTENTIONS/A TARNISHED HEART to The Wild Rose Press, I heard from my agent yesterday that Dorchester requested a read of MONSTER! YAY!! I should hear something on SI/ATH by Halloween. As for MONSTER, let’s say that next Mother’s Day might be a bit early! ;-)

No more Polar Bears?

polar bearsHave you read the headlines recently? There’s a fear that within the next century, all Polar Bears could be extinct. The reason: thinning ice. It’s truly a sad and frightening thought. Many other species have been lost to us in the last several hundred years. I hope we can make a serious change to our pollution, hunting, and even tourism policies.

Got Mojo?

As wonderful as my vacation was, it made a serious dent in the momentum I had going. Since returning, I’ve yet to begin exercising again and my blog posting has been seriously lacking. Funny how one week off can do something like that.

I am, however, doing *something.* I’ve begun working on the requested revisions for SECRET INTENTIONS from The Wild Rose Press. I reread the historical paranormal I put aside a year ago and have started my Muse thinking towards new ideas. Before the end of the month I have five contest entries to judge and return. I emailed my agent to check the status on my submission.

And of course there is the usual family stuff: kids going back to school, redecorating a room in our house, holidays, etc.

So don’t think I’ve forgotten about posting here…I’ve just been at a loss for what to say. Guess I could always fill each day with pictures or videos of Gerry. That wouldn’t be too bad, would it? ;-)

Quick Update

Posted by Leslie on September 5th, 2007 | No Comments

Sorry I’ve been too busy to post much here. Hopefully, life will be somewhat back to normal over the next week or so. But I do have one update to report:

The Wild Rose Press has reviewed SECRET INTENTIONS and made some minor suggestions and edits. I’ll be reviewing those over the next week or so. Hopefully after my revisions they will offer me a contract and this story will once again be available for sale!
