Its amazing what some people will research. This is a long article, but if you skim it, you’ll find the highlights of the history of artificial erections. As well as the differences in male and female sexuality, as highlighted below:

Men are pretty simple when it comes to creating sexual desire. Even if the problem is lack of interest or desire, if you give a man an erection, he wants to stick it somewhere. I realize this is simplistic, but for the most part, bypassing desire and going straight to arousal solves the problem in us.

Women, however, are not primed for sex by mere engorgement of their sex organs.

These days men are taking Viagra for their issues (did you know it was originally invented to lower blood pressure?). And for women, developments are underway for a pill or patch with just the right amount of testosterone.
