Depending on how the responses are today, I may start this as a semi-regular feature. I’ll highlight a book I want to read and list thirteen reasons why. If possible, I’ll see if the author will give something away and respond to any questions or comments!

UPDATE: Jana is giving away this stuffed cow with a signed bookmark to one lucky commenter! Thanks Jana!

First up – “Her Last Fling” by Jana Mercy!

thursday thirteen
Thirteen Reasons I Want to read “Her Last Fling”

1. How can you not be curious about a heroine who writes an ad which reads: “Looking for free milk? Then I’m not the girl for you…” After all, why buy the cow, when you can have the milk for free?

2. It’s about an online dating service – always wondered how those things worked.

HerLastFling3. The setting of the book is Memphis, someplace I’ve never been.

4. Hero is a dentist – how is that for being different than your typical romance novel?

5. The heroine wears pink stilettos…those must look way cool!

6. The hero tries to woo her with pink flowers. How can flowers ever be a bad thing?

7. Hero continues to court her – by sending witty notes such as “Moofully Yours” and “Thinking of Moo.” Is that clever or what?

8. Cows are so cute! My kids have a Webkins cow and it’s one of their favorites!

9. Somewhere in there is a pink diamond ring. OMG! I want one of those!

10. That’s one SEXY man on the cover!

11. I’ve never gone wrong by reading an Ellora’s Cave book!

12. Jana Mercy has been nice enough to respond to some of my posts over at Writers At Play.

13. Jana may just be nice enough to give something away to a commenter on this post! :-)

Hi Leslie! Thanks for the Thursday Thirteen on HER LAST FLING. I love, love, love this book. Yes, I’m biased, but I’ve written more than 10 books and Noah & Katy are by far my favorite hero & heroine.

I purposely gave Noah a job that isn’t traditionally thought of as hero material. In Her Last Fling, Noah and his partner are referred to as The Men Who Make You Smile…and they do. ;)

That sexy man on the cover makes this book so mysterious! I want to read it!

Denise 27/03/08 - 11:10 am

Cute idea for a TT! And, I want a blue diamond – but I suppose a pink one will do in a pinch!

Happy TT!

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 11:23 am

Denise~ A blue diamond would have been fun, too. Especially as the story is set in Memphis, which is known for the blues. :)

Grace~I hope you read Her Last Fling and enjoy it. Be sure to shoot me an email at janamercy@aol.com to let me know what you think!

Of course, I think it’s that the sexy man is holding a cow that makes the cover appear mysterious. But it does fit the story quite well and has a fun feel to it, doesn’t it?

The Memphis setting sounds really cool, and I’m all for humour in a romance! The cover is so good – that cow tucked under the arm of a very tasty hunk had me giggling.

Kelly Kirch 27/03/08 - 11:36 am

Yeah, I want the cow. ;) But I also love this cover. And as my marriage is a successful product of online dating, I can’t argue with the appeal factor. Of course I met mine on a chat group, not through a dating service. Didn’t even like him at first. Sigh. He sucked me in somehow and I’m happy for it.

I’ve this cover before and have to say it makes me smile. Can’t wait to read the book. I read and awesome review of it and I love the whole cow theme.:-)

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 11:59 am

Kelly I have a good friend who met her husband via an online dating service and they’re very happy. It’s been 6 years and they’re so cute together. Glad you and your hubby are another success story!

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 12:00 pm

Chris, I love Memphis. Wouldn’t mind living there even. When I was in grad school, my best friend lived there and I LUUURRVVVEEDD going for a visit. Beale Street rocks! Literally. ;)

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 12:01 pm

Thanks Carla. I’ve been very pleased with the reviews for HER LAST FLING. I’m still reeling that Simply Romance Reviews gave it an A+ Outstanding Read. Yea! And the fabulous reviewer at Literary Nymphs even got into the whole cow thing in her review! I loved it. :)

Tawny Weber 27/03/08 - 12:10 pm

OMG what a cute cow!!! And what a hunky cover – I can’t wait to read this story. Leslie, thanks so much for sharing with us and Jana… hot!!! What’s next for you?

Mona Risk 27/03/08 - 12:37 pm

Jana

I can list many more reasons to read your book. It’s so funny. Talking about dating service, my daughter told me the night before her wedding that she met her handsome hunk through a dating service. I almost fainted. The night before the wedding. She’s happily married.

Robin Haseltine 27/03/08 - 12:44 pm

I just want to know where I can find a dentist with pecs like that…

Congrats on the great review — can’t wait to pick up a copy

pussreboots 27/03/08 - 2:43 pm

I’m squicked by #1 on your list. I’ll pass on the book. Thanks. Happy TT.

Beth Andrews 27/03/08 - 2:50 pm

This book sounds so fantastic! I can’t wait to read it :-)

Great blog, Leslie!

Mona, thanks for reading Her Last Fling! And I’m glad you found it funny. It’s meant to bring a smile or two to your face! :)

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 6:33 pm

Hi, Tawny! Talk about your HOT books, you write them, babe! LOVE your Blazes!!! :) Thanks for checking out Her Last Fling!

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 6:35 pm

LOL, Robin. I actually know one…but that’s another story. ;) Thanks for stopping by!

Jana Mercy 27/03/08 - 6:41 pm

Hi Pussreboot. Not sure what squirked is, but definitely EC books aren’t for everyone. HER LAST FLING is a story about a contemporary young woman who is tired of being “free milk” and wants to be the “bought cow” so to speak. I think lots of single women can relate to Katy. :) Thanks for stopping by and best wishes.

An awesome idea for a blog. Squee Jana, I can’t wait to read Her Last Fling. The cow is adorable and the hunk is… lol
