1) Just got my revisions back for IMPROPER NIGHTS. That’ll keep me busy for the next few weeks.
2) I received an offer for A TARNISHED HEART from Enspiren Press! Just waiting on the contract now! Got the contract last night! Signed and returned it! YIPPEE!! Look for a Spring 2008 release!
3) Last word from my agent was that MARK OF THE MONSTER was one of the next few to be read by the Dorchester editor. Keep those fingers crossed!

The Wild Rose Press has passed on A TARNISHED HEART (formerly SECRET INTENTIONS). Although I seem to catch the editor’s fancy in the Scarlet Rose line, I’m not the right material for the editor who reviewed ATH for the English Tea Rose line. So this story is being submitted elsewhere. Sigh. And the clock starts over….

Ok, not only have I sent back my revisions on SECRET INTENTIONS/A TARNISHED HEART to The Wild Rose Press, I heard from my agent yesterday that Dorchester requested a read of MONSTER! YAY!! I should hear something on SI/ATH by Halloween. As for MONSTER, let’s say that next Mother’s Day might be a bit early!

As wonderful as my vacation was, it made a serious dent in the momentum I had going. Since returning, I’ve yet to begin exercising again and my blog posting has been seriously lacking. Funny how one week off can do something like that.
I am, however, doing *something.* I’ve begun working on the requested revisions for SECRET INTENTIONS from The Wild Rose Press. I reread the historical paranormal I put aside a year ago and have started my Muse thinking towards new ideas. Before the end of the month I have five contest entries to judge and return. I emailed my agent to check the status on my submission.
And of course there is the usual family stuff: kids going back to school, redecorating a room in our house, holidays, etc.
So don’t think I’ve forgotten about posting here…I’ve just been at a loss for what to say. Guess I could always fill each day with pictures or videos of Gerry. That wouldn’t be too bad, would it?

Sorry I’ve been too busy to post much here. Hopefully, life will be somewhat back to normal over the next week or so. But I do have one update to report:
The Wild Rose Press has reviewed SECRET INTENTIONS and made some minor suggestions and edits. I’ll be reviewing those over the next week or so. Hopefully after my revisions they will offer me a contract and this story will once again be available for sale!

They say Patience is a Virtue. Unfortunately, I was not born with it. And in this writing business, it’s all about being patient. Basically, except for the actual writing, most of the rest is out of the author’s control. So we wait.
The editor at The Wild Rose Press asked for 60 days from the date she received SI/ATH to read and review it. A fair and generous offer, actually. Yet, here I am on day 30 anxious to hear from her. Sigh.
My agent told me she’d send MARK OF THE MONSTER off to NAL after the conference. I’m sure she’s still getting caught up and back into the groove.
So I’m waiting. And trying (really, really hard) to be patient!
Don’t forget to sign the petition to have SHATTERED released nationwide!

Secret Intentions/A Tarnished Heart/Deceptions — whatever you want to call this story — is under consideration now at The Wild Rose Press. I have two short stories there and have always been pleased with their business savvy and awesome covers.
I hope the editor (not the same one I’ve had in the past) likes it! I really would like for this story to find a new, HAPPY home!

Perhaps you’ve already noted that I’ve changed the link on the left from Secret Intentions to A Tarnished Heart. If you click on that page, you’ll see the book cover is gone and the novel is no longer for sale. It’s true. Just two months after release I’ve asked for and received my rights back for this story. It was a difficult business decision to make, especially so soon after release – when I still have a lot of promo lined up. But in the end, I was determined to see this story in print and my current publisher could not provide that to me.
So, I’m afraid this book won’t be for sale again until it finds another home. If you’ve already purchased and read the book, THANK YOU! In fact, I’m offering up the bottle of “Secret Intention” perfume to the first person to respond on my blog with either the name of Markham’s son OR proof that you’ve purchased the book.
Don’t think I won’t have anything to talk about. There’s always something going on and new stories to write.
I hope to hear from some of you soon!

They gave SECRET INTENTIONS a 4.5 out of 5 and had this to say:
Ms. Dicken writes a splendidly romantic historical novel. I fell in love with her characters and would have liked the book to continue. If only we could live the lives of others for not just a moment for their entire lives. This book made me want to continue reading, but alas I was on the last page. I hope Ms. Dicken continues with another book.

Can love find a way through this tangle of secrets and deception?
This is enjoyable, sensual, fast paced and good fun.
