How many have you read?

Posted by Leslie on November 21st, 2007 | 2 Comments

All About Romance has a list of Top 100 Romances. I believe this list was garnered by a poll on their website. Worth Any PriceI actually found out about this list via the Book Bitches, who had quote the humorous take on the books chosen.

As for how many I’ve read, I’m not sure if I should be relieved or embarrassed. I’ve read less than ten on there. There are many on there that I *intended* to read, but just never got around to. According to the Book Bitches, however, its probably a good thing that I’ve not wasted my time (see my comments and their reply to them). ;-)

Happy Monday!

Nothing much to post today. I’m busy at the day job. I did receive a promotion at work, something I’ve been working towards since February. Suffice to say, it means I’ve got more to do but am finally getting the pay and level I deserve. So yay me!

No news on the writing front. Still waiting to hear from two editors on A TARNISHED HEART and three editors on MARK OF THE MONSTER. But, with Lisa’s help, I’ve gotten more meat for my new historical/paranormal/gothic romance. :-)

Gothic-ly Delicious

I’ve started a new historical gothic. While not main characters, the demons of Incubus and Succubus play a role in the story. While searching for images of these demons, I stumbled across the “Gothic Nightmares” exhibit at the Tate Museum in Britain. Each room holds different pictures in such categories as “Fairies and Fatal Women” and “Perverse Classicism.”

Borrowed from that site is first image, which I found in the “The Nightmare” room. This is what they had to say about the work:

An evil imp has visited two naked young women, and is shown departing on a demonic horse through the window. One of the women stretches as she wakes, her face indicating she has been troubled (or perhaps exhausted) by the night’s activities. The composition may suggest a kind of addled fairy-tale, with the sleeping beauties awakened by the departure of the beast. It evokes the themes of erotic arousal and sexual initiation that underlie many classic stories.

Rejection

The Wild Rose Press has passed on A TARNISHED HEART (formerly SECRET INTENTIONS). Although I seem to catch the editor’s fancy in the Scarlet Rose line, I’m not the right material for the editor who reviewed ATH for the English Tea Rose line. So this story is being submitted elsewhere. Sigh. And the clock starts over….

Ah finally…

I have something new coming out! Well, not yet, still don’t know the date, but at least I’m listed on the website!! YAY!! The Wild Rose Press has IMPROPER NIGHTS down in the coming soon section of the Scarlet Rose. This is a super sexy one, folks, so be ready for some steam when it’s released!

Improper Nights Tagged

Another tagging with Tagcloud. This time the first half of my new short story, IMPROPER NIGHTS. These are fun. I’ll probably ending up tagging all of my stories at some point.

I typically don’t do the banner thing…just haven’t had the time, I guess. But when The Wild Rose Press asked for one from their Scarlet Rose authors, I figured it was time. After all, I have TWO releases for Scarlet Rose soon! Whaddya think?

Okay, Lisa said I didn’t quite get the spirit of the last post. Apparently, I wasn’t funny. So here is my second attempt.

1. Scars Make Me Horny.
2. Extraterrestrials Have More Fun.
3. Tie Me Up. Now.
4. Where’s My Damn Necklace?!
5. He’ll Lick Sand Too.
6. Rules, Schmules, Kiss Me.

If you get all six right, you win a prize! :D

Romance Novels in Four Words

Why can’t I be this creative? I guess all of my creativity is narrowed and focused onto those pages of romance I write. Not to mention the fact that I’m not all that witty or humorous. Anyway, check out these on Smart Bitches…hilarious, of course. Got any of your own? Please post them here! I’d love to see them!

Here are a few for my books, can you guess which story they are for?

1. Curiosity shocks; denial vanishes.
2. Tortured man seeks relief.
3. Fiesty girl breaks rules.
4. Injured swimmer fulfills desires.
5. Betting couple can’t win.
6. Misplaced trust ruins lives.

Still getting caught up since my surprise trip to Tulsa this past weekend to see a friend. But while I was there I was offered a contract for my sexy short story, IMPROPER NIGHTS, that I sent to The Wild Rose Press. No details as for release or anything yet, but at least I’m moving forward! :-)
